Information and Assistance for Authors 9th IAFSS Symposium, 21-26 September 2008, Karlsruhe, GERMANY

The International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS) sponsors the world’s premier symposium for the dissemination and discussion of peer reviewed scientific research focused on the prevention and mitigation of fire losses. The 9th IAFSS Symposium, 21-26 September 2008, will be held in Karlsruhe, GERMANY.

The Symposium will include the Emmons Lecture, several plenary lectures, oral paper presentations, and a poster session with contributions from fire scientists around the world. Specialist workshops will be conducted on the Sunday before the Symposium. Registration and general information about the meeting are available at www.iafss.org.

Call for Posters
A Call for Posters was issued in January 2008, which will provide details on poster abstract requirements. Posters may describe work in progress, or completed projects. To assure the inclusion of recent research, the submission deadline for poster abstracts has been set to May 15, 2008. Students are encouraged to participate and awards will be made for the Best Student Posters. See call for posters on the right.

Fire Science Image
In addition to the posters, the program committee is trialling a new Fire Science Image Competition. We are looking for the best fire science related images. See the call for posters for more information about submitting images.

Awards
For the first time, the IAFSS will be presenting 4 awards for the Poster Session.

  • Best Poster Award - Awarded for the best poster based on technical content, organization, and visual presentation. Selection will be made by the poster awards committee.
  • Best Student Poster Award - Award for the best poster by a student author based on technical content, organization, and visual presentation. Selection will be made by the poster awards committee.
