Fire Protection Engineer/Technician – Chicago, IL

The Chicago office is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer/Technician. This position will work closely with our senior engineers and designers to provide fire and life safety documentation for a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects.

Position requires a degree from an accredited engineering program with a working knowledge of general construction methods, practices, and terminology. NICET Level II or III in "Fire Protection Engineering Technology" preferred. EIT registration and prior work history or internship experience is also desirable. Some travel is required.

Along with preparing Fire detection and alarm system design and Fire sprinkler system layouts, you will:

Prepare Egress analyses
Assist with on-site construction quality reviews and site observation
Assist with fire loss investigations and litigation support
Conduct Fire science applications research
Provide technical guidance and code interpretations to architects, engineers, contractors and building owners
Inspect buildings or building designs to determine fire protection system requirements and potential problems in areas such as fire suppression, fire alarm, water supplies, exit locations, and construction materials

Senior Fire Protection Engineer – Chicago, IL

We have an opportunity in the Chicago office for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer. Responsibilities include the management and implementation of a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects.

The position requires a B.S. degree from an accredited engineering program with 6+ years of proven fire protection engineering and project management experience. Extensive design experience in fire alarm and sprinkler design is a requirement. Candidate must be a registered professional engineer (Illinois license preferred).

We are looking for an individual who can work independently, enjoys professional challenges and who wants to be an integral part of the long-term growth of the Chicago area office. Along with preparing and directing others in the design and specifications for fire protection systems, you will:

Conduct Building and Fire Code reviews and analyses
Provide fire loss investigations and litigation support
Prepare and present technical reports and presentations
Perform an active role in Code and Standards Technical committees and local trade organizations
Plan and direct engineering activities within local office, including distribution of workload, scheduling, and resources
Handle business development responsibilities and technical staff recruitment

Senior Fire Protection Engineer – Orlando, FL

Opportunities exist for a Senior Level Fire Protection Engineer with a degree in fire protection engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent level of experience, and strong technical and communication skills. Senior level applicants should have experience in code consulting and developing performance based strategies in a project design environment. Applicants must possess a PE license in Fire Protection Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Successful candidates will have excellent report writing and interpersonal skills. They should also have an ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies, and have good negotiating skills.

NICET Level III or IV in Automatic Sprinkler System Layout – Orlando, FL

Hughes Associates, Inc. is seeking qualified professionals to augment its growing operations in Florida. Applicant should be certified to NICET Level III or IV in Automatic Sprinkler System Layout.
