THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE PERFORMED WITH THE USER LOGGED INTO AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT
For the Vista Fix patch to work correctly the flow calculation software must be installed outside of the Program Files folder. If you have already installed the flow calculation software, you will need to uninstall the software using the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel. If you used the default installation directory, the software was installed in the Program Files directory and must be reinstalled.
Please make note of the new flow calculation software directory as you will need this information later in the process. If you have multiple versions of the flow calculation software installed, they will all have to be reinstalled.
After the flow calculation(s) have been properly installed, download the Vista Fix installation zip file (FCVistaFix.zip) using the link below.
Once downloaded, unzip the setup.exe and setup.msi files to a temporary directory. Run the setup.exe to launch the Vista Fix installation.
With the Vista Fix software installed, open My Computer or Windows Explorer and navigate to the Vista Fix software directory (default- c:\Flow Calculation Vista Fix\). Start the Vista Fix software by right clicking the “FCFixVista.exe” file and selecting “Run as Administrator”. If you do not select “Run as Administrator”, the fix will not work.
The Vista Fix program has two parts. The first updates a series of batch files. The second part of the program attempts to register or re-register files necessary to the operation of the software.
With the Vista Fix window open, select the directory where the flow calculation software has been installed by clicking the Browse button. This is the same directory selected during the flow calculation software (re)installation. Once the correct directory has been selected, click the “Run Tasks” button to apply the fix. If the registration phase posts some errors, make note of them but continue the process. This fix has been designed to cover a variety of different versions. The registration errors are most likely due to the fact that your version does not require that particular file.
Please note that you will have to run the Fix for each version of the flow calculation software that you have installed on your computer. For each additional version, reselect the appropriate flow calculation software directory and click “Run Tasks”.
With the patch applied, you should now be able to run the flow calculation program(s) as normal. However, it is important that you continue to run the flow calculation software in a Vista account with administrator privileges.
